THE SECRET TO LIFE

Today was a good day. Totally nailed what I had to do in English and had fun after school. Because of all that work last night, (I slept yesterday from 4 to 11pm, and worked from 11 to 5am), I passed out on Kevin's bed while he and Andres played Modern Warfare. (I get motion sickness from watching/playing first-person shooters). I knocked out for about an hour and I dropped them off at Taco Bell before heading out.

But one of the best things of today that will stay with me forever is this: realizing how much music means to some people... Mr. Hogan said, "Someone once told me the secret to live is to experience two emotions at once... can you imagine? Knowing sadness when you feel happy, and knowing happiness when you feel sad? The secret to life is to find balance." His parents almost divorced at my age. They decided to not separate over a small moment of conflict, but instead found the worth in the entire relationship. He started choking up when he mentioned he attended his mom's 60th birthday last night, with his dad by her side. When you know your good moments will end, and your bad times will come, and that your worse moments will pass for better moments to come... It must be one of those "you had to be there" events, but... it was so true I almost cried. Some people just get it. Some people need a little help. Some people will never see it as a whole.

"The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." - Aristotle
In fact...
"The whole is something else than the sum of its parts, because summing up is a meaningless procedure whereas the whole-part relationship is meaningful." - Max Wertheimer Gestalt theory (plus Kurt Koffka)
